What to expect
Presenter Natalie Knight will take the group through activities to assist in developing a positive, resilient mindset around common challenges facing teenagers. These will include friendship group dynamics and social situations, self-insight around emotional regulation, dealing with anxiety and feelings of isolation, overload & loneliness, and coping with high school, exams, and workload. In addition, the workshop will present a range of information that will assist the group to understand some of the common 'red flags' associated with feeling emotionally deregulated and provide the links to where to get help and reinforce the importance of how reaching out to others can make a real positive difference when challenging situations arise. It will also assist to inform the group on how to know if their friends may be having a challenging time and what they can do to support them.
The workshop will be very activity-based and be light and informative so participants leave feeling empowered with a range of skills to both help themselves cope better and to be in a better position to help their friends.
The workshop is based on the DNA model ( The youth model for mindfulness & ACT) designed and facilitated globally by Psychologist DR Louise Hayes Ph.D. ( www.thrivingadolescent.com).
